So much to blog about...

So little battery power. Honestly, my heart is broken because I can't find the charger for my camera battery! Hence, the lack of recent posts. I wanted to take a picture of the brown chair that we had delivered on Sunday, which so completely clashes with everything else in our living room, that I honestly wonder what we were thinking when we picked it out only a few weeks ago, really. It must go back. Sigh. I wanted to post photos of the fabulous Christmas party we went to on Saturday night, as well as the reason we missed we missed the second party of the evening (a very scary red flashing light in our car, which could have been a sign of the apocalypse itself, it was that scary). Car trouble in a new car, say what? But sadly these memories will have to live in my heart, because they were not documented on digital film. All of this will change though, because this afternoon I am heading to best buy to get this situation sorted out.

I will end with my own little LOLcats.... (I recently stumbled upon this site, and I love it!) I am sure there could be some pretty funny captions on this photo :)

A little mememe!

I have been a slacking blogger lately. Sometimes, if I let more than a few days go by, I think, eh, what's a few more days, and before long, it has been too long. Plus my mom calls me and says she is tired of looking at the sandwhich explosion, which is a fair argument.

A few weeks ago Weezermonkey tagged me for this fun mememe, so here goes!

1) What were you cooking/baking 10 years ago? Ten years ago I was living in a dorm room, so I wasn't doing a whole lot of cooking. More snackin in my dorm room at all hours of the day, and night.

2) What were you cooking/baking one year ago? One year ago I had just learned that I had Celiac disease, so I was trying to figure out a way to make gluten-free cupcakes taste like the real thing. Still trying.

3) The snack you enjoy the most: movie theater popcorn, it is hard for me to go to the movies and not eat popcorn. I also love chips and guacamole, or with the salsa from chipotle, soooo good!

4) A culinary luxury you would indulge in if you were a millionaire: First I would pay someone to develop a pill that would allow me to eat wheat, and then I would take a private plane on a culinary tour through Italy and France. I would take my husband with me too :)

5) What do you bake the most? I don't do a whole lot of baking, I would like to do more. I do more cooking, and I would say I cook chicken and rice the most.

6) Five recipes you know by heart: Teriyaki chicken, pasta with fresh pesto, roasted chicken, rice krispies treats, tacos.

7) One thing you cannot/will not eat: gluten. And clams, mussels & oysters, eeew.

8) Favorite culinary toy: mini-cuisinart chopper. It's perfect for making a batch of pesto!

9) A must on your "last meal" menu: Mashed potatoes, cupcakes, really good bread with butter, too many good things to list! I would have to have a buffet.

10) Happy food memories: My Grandma Marie teaching me how to bake an apple pie. She made the best pies ever!

Now I am hungry, great.

Sandwich Explosion...

Hey y'all! Many of you know, I am allergic to wheat. Usually this poses a problem during the lunch hour. All I want is a nice turkey sandwich, sans the bread. So today, I walked up to the sandwich counter at Whole Foods, and asked for a roasted turkey on... lettuce. I really prefer my sandwiches and burgers "protein style" on lettuce instead of bread, but they are a little difficult to eat. This is how my sandwich ended up...What a disaster!

Oh well, it isn't the most pleasant thing to eat, can be a little messy, but it is still really good!

This past month we celebrated my birthday! (too paranoid about the Internet to post on the actual day, ha!) We had a very lovely dinner at my favorite restaurant, BOA in Santa Monica. This place is to die for, in my opinion. I didn't take any pictures of the food, but it was all delish! I had the petite fillet and my husband had the roasted chicken, both were amazing. We also had a field greens salad and shrimp cocktail, YUM! And cotton candy for desert! And since it was my birthday, they brought over a sparkler! It was pretty cool. My favorite thing at BOA is a special drink they have called the blackberry smash. I am not quite sure what is in it, besides blackberry (hence the name) but it is unreal. I am not a big drinker at all, but I can never resist this cocktail!

After dinner, we went home to watch my favorite movie of all time:

And my sweet husband sent me these! They are from Empty Vase, and I swear, they have the most amazing arrangements at that place. And the flowers really last, and last. The last arrangement we got from empty vase lasted over a week.

It was the best birthday a gal could ask for!
